By Resolution of the Russian Government No. 1459 dated September 23, 2025, changes have been introduced with respect to patent and other official fees payable by applicants when interacting with Rospatent (Russian PTO). The amendments enter into force on October 4, 2025. The Resolution introduces new payable fees for:
• filing a trademark application;
• renewing the term of the exclusive right to a trademark.
• filing a trademark application;
• renewing the term of the exclusive right to a trademark.
Where the list of goods and services for which legal protection of the trademark is sought or granted in any class of the International Classification of Goods and Services contains more than 10 items, an additional fee of RUB 500 shall be charged for each item exceeding the established threshold. It is apparent that the above changes are intended to encourage applicants to take a more considered approach when drafting the lists of goods and services in trademark applications, as well as to streamline the scope of registered trademarks by excluding unused goods and services from their specifications.
In addition, the Resolution introduces exemptions from payment of certain fees for executive authorities and for the state corporations Rosatom and Roskosmos, and also establishes the procedure for submitting petitions for such exemptions.
