A new register of intellectual property rights may soon be established under Rospatent, containing industry-average royalty rates for the use of registered IP.
According to reports, the draft Government Resolution has been prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development.
Key points:
A new online service is expected to be launched to calculate royalty payments for the use of registered intellectual property rights.
The valuation of usage rights will not be carried out by Rospatent itself, but by independent appraisers engaged for this purpose.
The royalty values recorded in the register will serve as non-binding benchmarks, not as mandatory rates for right holders.
According to the head of Rospatent, this initiative aims to stimulate Russia’s IP market, which will enable start-ups to attract new sources of financing.
We’ll continue monitoring how this initiative evolves!
