On 26 July 2026, Federal Law “On Supporting the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in the Russian Federation” (the AI Law), was signed and published. The law regulates relations in the field of the development, deployment, and use of large foundational AI models.
The main part of the AI Law will enter into force on 1 September 2026. Provisions establishing developer responsibilities, TDM exceptions, and labeling will enter into force on 1 March 2027.
